Before 7am even rolled around on the morning of Saturday, May 28th, hundreds of people had already gathered at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma. As part of an annual event, participants made their way to the cemetery for a short flag and prayer ceremony in honor of Memorial Day before spreading out to place American flags in front of each grave marker in the cemetery.

Although the majority of the crowd was made up of various Cub Scout Packs and their parents, anyone was welcome to come out to honor the fallen.

Reza Bashar, the Cub Master for Pack 605 out of Rancho Penasquitos, and his two sons, Kayvon and Paymon were just a few of the hundreds to come out. This year marks the third time their pack has participated in the flag placing ceremony.
