view from the top.

The reception of the wedding was held on the top floor of an eight-story building, which provided some great views throughout the evening and night.  This shot was taken before the sun set.  I'll post another one tomorrow that I took later when it got dark. IMG_4943x

I shot my first wedding in 10 months today, and it was a wonderful day from start to finish.  Not only were the bride and groom easygoing and great to work with, but the location and weather was all working in my favor.  At the end of the night I walked away with over 1200 shots (which I'm not really looking forward to sifting through).  I chose a few portraits from before the ceremony to edit and picked my favorite post up here.  I might feature a few more in the next day or two if I don't think it's wedding-overkill for you guys. I was on my way home to meet a friend and came across this charismatic looking older man sitting on his front porch about 6 or 7 blocks south of me.  I couldn't help but stop and ask to take his photo.  He didn't hesitate to say yes and proceeded to tell me he was half black and half Mexican and that his name was Howard.  I was in quite a hurry, but he yelled after me that he'd like to see the photo later, so I plan to print one out and take it back to him and get a bit more of his story from him.  I've seriously missed doing street portraits...my biggest downfall has been the fact that I'm not carrying my camera around lately, so I plan to change that...today was a step in the right direction.
