blue skies and wires.

I rode my bike with my friend Alicia up to Northern Liberties (a Philly neighborhood) and went to a cafe and gallery to take advantage of the few fleeting hours of blue sky and sunshine we had this afternoon.  I've been feeling uninspired as far as photography goes lately, but we stopped to take a photo of some street art and I noticed how gorgeous the clouds were paired with the building and electric lines where we were standing and took a few shots before we rode on.  I'm pretty happy with what I got, and it makes me even happier to know that I can force myself to see the artistic value in things regardless of whether or not I'm feeling artsy at the moment. 6-22-09

bottling works.

I'm not entirely certain of when this was taken, but I know it was later in the summer of 2008, before I moved to Philadelphia.  It was taken in Frederick, Maryland on one of the hottest days we'd had, as far as I can remember. Every time we went to Frederick I saw this building and the pairing of the mailbox, meter and hydrant and always wanted a photo of it, but cars were always inconveniently blocking my shot.  This particular trip, however, the universe conspired to grant me my empty street and I managed to get my shot.  It's more simple and straightforward than a lot of my stuff, but I just loved the composition of all the elements. 6-19-09(2)

the shore.

So I rummaged through my photos from my trip to the Jersey Shore a few weeks ago and found a few that were blog-worthy, so I figured I'd make it a two-post night since I've been a slacker.  It was a foggy and chilly morning, which resulted in me staying under the blanket while Rob tested the waters.  On the bright side, we had the beach pretty much to ourselves (save for a few fishermen quite a ways off), so it was a nice day regardless of the less-than-stellar weather. I generally don't like photos I've taken with centered subjects, but I kind of liked how it felt with him smack dab in the middle.
